A "Licence de math”, "magna cum laude" from the UCBerkeley/Sorbonne at 21, a published mathematical paper (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/07468342.2024.2334191) at 53, and 30 years of tutoring school math worldwide in-between, make for a completely unique background in mathematics education.
Growing up amongst some of the world’s premiere physicists and mathematicians it was always obvious that school math was not in the true spirit of inquiry. Little do we fathom the depths of it! It took me decades in the trenches of daily math tutoring math to fully believe what I am asserting here: school-math is little more than a labyrinth. The only question is to what degree that is still intentional.
